What to do after a car accident

The only thing people are told to do after an accident is call a lawyer referral service. There are some other things to consider, for health and safety. If you are involved in an accident, here are some tips on what you should actually do:

  • Move to safety: If possible, move out of the way of traffic and put your hazard flashers on. Get away from more potential danger.
  • Call the police: Even after a fender bender, always get a police report. If somebody is injured, let the police know, right away. If you see downed lines or any fire hazards, report them.
  • Remain silent: Don't discuss the details of your accident with anybody other than the police and your Caton Hosey agent, or carrier representative. Avoid confrontation with agitated parties.
  • Exchange Information: If there is another motorist or involved or witness present, you should exchange information with them. Write down their contact information including name, phone number, address, driver's license number, tag number and state. Take a picture of their ID and insurance card with your phone if possible.
  • Report the accident: Let your Caton Hosey insurance agent know about the accident, or contact your carrier's claim number (located on your insurance ID card) directly.
A good idea would be to print this blog post, and keep a copy with your registration and insurance. If you have any questions, you can always call us at 877.767.3161.

Art of the Car (insurance) Show!

As you know, we are big fans of classic, exotic and custom cars. You might have seen us (along with Chubb Insuarance) at the "Art of The Car Show" last weekend (Saturday, May 5th) on Beach Street in Daytona. A terrific day with perfect weather and a great turnout of automobiles.

If your ride was there, you know what it takes to keep up a classic. An ordinary fender-bender might cause $500-$2,500 in damage for the daily driver or grocery-getter. Damage the back bumper on a '69 Skylark and you are out of luck. No amount of money will buy what can't be found.

Caton Hosey Insurance understands, and that is why we work with insurance providers that know the custom and classic car business. If you are interested in receiving a competitive quote, or just want to talk about YOUR ride, click below to let us know!

RayZ Awareness Run on Daytona Beach!

Thank You to our very own Keri Harris, Tim LeBlanc & Melissa Adrian
for running in RayZ Awareness on behalf of Caton Hosey Insurance!
Bill Walter III was a resident of Ormond Beach, a graduate of Spruce Creek High School, husband, father and an athlete. In January 1995 Bill was diagnosed with level 5 melanoma.
In August 1998 friends, family and classmates rallied together to bring the first annual Bill Walter III Melanoma 5K to Ormond Beach with Bill and his family there. Three months later Bill lost his battle with this dreaded disease. The battle continues as Bill's positive spirit lives on in the hearts of those who are trying to help find a cure for melanoma. Caton Hosey was proud to sponsor Keri, Tim and Melissa - thanks guys!
